We don't subscribe to maximalism and fast fashion but we do appreciate a good deal when available. We are on a fixed budget and love being able to get things that we need for the RV on a discount. These below are some good quality finds that you can snag for yourself today.

1. CLIQ Chair

Every RVer and camper needs these, especially if space is very limited! They are comfortable, lightweight and can be easily stored just about anywhere.

2. Luci Solar Inflatable Lantern

This little lantern is perfect for an RVer because it is small , compact and solar powered. It can be charged on the dashboard while driving or can be clipped onto a backpack while hiking. We use it on nights when we are trying to conserve on energy in the Airstream and need l ight inside.

3. H P Compact Printer

This might show our age but we LOVE having a printer. This HP wireless compact printer doesn't take up much space and works well!

4. Tubshroom

This one may seem odd but WOW does it help! Keeps hair out of the shower drains and therefore tanks. Easy to clean and they last a long time!

5. Progressive RV Surge Protector

Every RVer needs to have a surge protector. This is the one we used for many years (up until we got our solar system that has a built in protector) and we highly recommend it. No one should ever plug into a campground with a surge protector.

6. Dehumidifier

We love this dehumidifier and talk about it often because it REALLY helps minimize moisture in our RV.

7. SanDisk Solid State Drive

I currently have 4 of these and will be buying more since they are on sale! We take a lot of high resolution photos and videos so these external hard drives have come in handy! (Please note, I would always back up any photos/videos onto multiple devices or the cloud. Learn from my mistake.)

8. DC-DC Charger

This little thing (combined with our solar setup) allows us to run our fridge off of our batteries/solar while we drive!

9. Leveling Blocks

Everyone needs leveling blocks and this is a great deal for new RVers or seasoned RVers needing replacements.

10. Heated Water Hose

Plan on camping in colder temperatures? You'll definitely need a heated hose to keep things from freezing!

11. Quick Connect Propane Hose

This adapter allows us to use our RVs propane tanks to fuel our Blackstone Grill. This minimizes us having to carry around a smaller propane tank just for the grill.

12. Exte ndable Tripod

This tripod has held up so well! I love how adjustable it us but also that it folds down pretty small. I can stick it in my hiking backpack with me because it's also pretty lightweight.

15 RV Essentials: For the RV Beginner

We've lived in our Airstream for 5 years and I remember how overwhelmed we were when we first started RVing. We had no experience owning an RV or even camping in one. If you are new to RVing, here is a list of must haves to get you started on your RV journey. Whether you plan on full-timing or just camp on the weekends, these essentials will make RVing possible!

#1. Sewer Hose

First things first, you'll definitely need a sewer hose, or as we call it a "stinky slinky". If you are completely new to RVing, you'll need to know that this hose is what carries your #1 and #2s from your rig to the sewer. We highly suggest this RhinoFLEX sewer hose kit . It includes a translucent elbow which seems disgusting but its necessary to make sure your tanks are completely empty.

#2. Sewer hose support

One thing that really sucks is when the sewer pipe is really tall and you have to pick up the sewer hose to drain it into the sewer. It's frustrating and time consuming so we recommend this Sidewinder sewer hose support to help everything drain properly.

#3. Holding tank deodorizers

Cleaning and maintaining your holding tanks is very important. There are many deodorizers and cleaners out there but this is the one we have used and as of now we have been pretty pleased! We recommend adding a pack every time we dump our tanks.

#4. Drinking water hose

We absolutely love our Zero-G hose . It is our dedicated drinking water hose. We chose this hose because it is lightweight and kink free. When choosing a drinking water hose, double check to make sure it is drinking water safe. Your drinking water hose will be what you use to connect to city water connection or what you use to fill up your water tank.

#5. Black tank flush hose

When RVing, having 2 hoses is necessary. One will be solely for drinking water and the second needs to be used only to flush the black tank. This hose will connect from the water source to the black tank flush that sprays the inside of your black tank clean. We flush our black tank every time we dump because we primarily boondock and making sure our tanks are completely clean allows us to boondock longer. Any type of garden hose will work for this.

#6. Water Hose Splitte r

This splitter comes in handy! We use it to give us the flexibility of adding a second hose when we are connected to a water spigot.

#7. Water Filter

Water filtration is top priority when traveling from campground to campground and state to state that has different water regulations. Having clean safe water for your rig and for drinking is very important. We started out using a Camco RV Water Filter that connects in between the spigot and your rig but have recently switched to the ClearSource Ultra RV Water Filter System . The ClearSource is a 3 stage water filter that includes the VirusGuard filter in the third stage that blocks even viruses, which are much smaller than bacteria. The VirusGuard filter also provides protection against heavy metals such as lead and iron. You can get $25 off a purchase of $250 or more HERE or use the code STREAMING .

#8. Water Pressure Regulator

A water pressure regulator will help you control the water pressure coming into your rig. Some RV parks have really high pressure which can damage your rig if its not controlled. There are some campgrounds that require you to have a regulator so make sure to check your campground rules before you arrive.

#9. Wheel Chocks

RV wheel chocks are a basic necessity. As a new RVer make sure to grab a few of these before picking up your rig. RV wheel chocks serve as a stabilizer to prevent front and back movement. Make sure to always put them under the tires before unhitching.

#10. Leveling Blocks

Leveling blocks are yet another basic item that every RVer needs. These blocks are used to level your RV from side to side. They are also used to place under the stabilizer jacks and tongue jack.

#11. X-Chock wheel stabilizers

We hands down recommend X-Chocks as a basic need because they truly help reduce movement and shakiness of the RV while walking around inside. The X-Chocks go in between the tires to help stabilize the tires even more.

#12. Portable air compressor

This little air compressor is compact and fits just about anywhere. It is good to have on hand, especially when traveling through different elevations!

#13. Tire pressure monitoring system

Here is another must for anyone who travels whether it be fulltime, part time or just for vacation. Before taking off to travel fulltime, we made sure to purchase this Tire Pressure Monitoring System for our Airstream tires. These sensors attach to each tire stem. It gives us peace of mind driving down the road because we can always glance at the screen to monitor what our tire pressures are doing.

#14. Surge Protector

Even though we love boondocking, we have to plug into shore power occasional. We never plug into the electrical grid without our surge protector. Power surges can happen unexpectedly and can cause serious damage to your RVs electrical system. We suggest the surge protector below because it's already protected us from a large power surge!

#15. Electrical power adapter

We recommend having multiple power supply adapters for your rig to prepare you for any campground situation you may be in. If you have a 50amp rig, I suggesting having a 30amp to 50amp adapter along with a 15/20amp to 50amp adapter. For a 30amp rig you will just need a 15/20amp to 30amp adaptor. You may not be able to run everything inside your rig during these times, but it makes it nice to be able to run your refrigerator and/or microwave. This also will allow your batteries to charge while stationary. Having a 10/3awg extension cord is great to have in your arsenal as well.

Fishing in National Parks

Tanner loves fly fishing! As we travelled through many states, we knew it would not be financially feasible for him to obtain a fishing license in every state. So we were very excited to learn that some National Parks do not require a state license to fish!

Here are a list of some National Parks we have been to where state licenses are not required:

Yellowstone NP (must purchase Yellowstone NP fishing permit)
Glacier NP (no state license required)
Olympic NP (no state license required)
Mt. Rainier NP (no state license required)

ALWAYS check with a ranger to learn the parks regulations before fishing!

Some common rules in National Parks:

Recommended fly fishing
Barbless hooks
Live bait is prohibited
Catch and release native fish
Felt soled footgear prohibited

Depending on the National Park, various regulations differ between each one. The National Park Service has a wonderful website that includes a map of all the parks that can be fished at & the specific regulations for that park.

2 Day Guide to Mesa Verde National Park

We absolutely love exploring Colorado and this national park blew us away! Mesa Verde National Park is located in southwest Colorado about 50 minutes west of Durango. Established in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt, Mesa Verde was acknowledged for the protection of the incredible cliff dwellings left behind by the Ancestral Pueblo people. It was the first national park established to protect man-made structures.

Mysteries of Mesa Verde

The Ancestral Pueblo people lived in this area of Colorado long before Europeans explored North America. They lived and flourished from AD 550 to the late 1200s. When they first settled the mesa in 550 AD, they lived in pit houses that were dug underground. Around AD 750 they began to build their houses above ground in conjunction to one another in long, curving rows. They flourished and their population grew to where their houses became multi-storied compact villages. But around 1225 the people moved into the cliff alcoves and began constructing the intricate and large cliff dwellings seen today. Why they moved back into the alcoves, no one quite knows but it could have been for religious reasons, protection from the elements or as a form of defense. They lived in the cliff dwellings for less than 100 years before they were deserted. Again, no one knows why they left the cliff dwellings but several theories point to a severe drought and possible depletion of resources.

Where to Stay

We highly suggest staying inside the park and here's why: The entrance and visitors center is right off Highway 160 but the cliff dwellings are at the end of a 21 mile (45 min) scenic drive through the park. Staying inside the park allows you to camp closer to all the cliff dwellings and trails. We did look at camping outside the park on BLM land but it was too pot holed for our Airstream and the private campgrounds outside of the park were relatively the same price as staying inside the national park campground.

Morefield Campground

Open mid-May to mid-October, this campground has single and group campsites and first come first serve campsites. Each site has a table and a fireplace with grills. There are a few sites that have electrical hookups. A dump station is available. The campground also has WiFi, a camp store with groceries/firewood, and a laundromat.

Far View Lodge

Open May 1 to September 30, 2021, this lodge sits on a high shoulder of Mesa Verde near mile marker 15 on the main park road, offering panoramic vistas into three states. It's a simple lodge with no TVs, noise or distractions but a place to linger and appreciate why people lived here for seven centuries. You can make reservations online through the Aramark website .

Where to Eat

Tanner and I have very specific diets due to health issues so we always make our food at home but here are some places you can eat at while inside the park!

Far View Terrace Cafe

Open May 10 to September 30, Far View Terrace Cafe is close to Far View Lodge that comes with an unforgettable view! Also stop by for coffee at their Mesa Mocha Espresso Bar.

Metate Room inside Far View Lodge

Open May 1 to September 30, the Metate Room received "Award of Culinary Excellence" from the American Culinary Federation Colorado Chefs Association in the area of sustainable cuisine. Colorful Native American artwork surrounds you as you enjoy our award winning, contemporary menu inspired by regional heritage foods and flavorings. Reservations are encouraged. 970.529.442 2

Spruce Tree Terrace Cafe

Open year round but closed May 1 - September 30 Located in a historic building near the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum and Spruce Tree House, this is a perfect place for a casual lunch or dinner. Dine inside, on the outdoor patio, or pick up a lunch-to-go and enjoy a picnic in the park.

Knife Edge Cafe

Located at the Morefield campground it is open May 27 - Sep 30 and offers breakfast, and grab & go lunch/dinner.

Booking Tours

One of the best ways to enjoy the park is taking a ranger-led guided tour inside the cliff dwellings. We were so excited to experience the dwellings but unfortunately due to COVID precautions, the tours were not being offered. We hope to go back some day to see the dwellings from within. You can book a ranger-led guided tour to the cliff dwellings on recreation.gov and get more information here .

Mesa Verde National Park: Visitor and Research Center

Day 1:

Check out the Visitor Center

Once you enter the park, make sure to stop by the visitors center first! We always stop to grab a park map and a list of hiking trails.

PLEASE NOTE, when first entering the park you will see a sign that says "trailer parking", you do NOT have to pull over and park there if you plan to camp inside Morefield campground. Trailers and towed vehicles are not allowed beyond Morefield campground.

Drive the Scenic Drive & stop at the Overlooks

The drive into the park up to the top of the mesa is one of the most beautiful park entrances we have ever experienced! It is definitely underrated and deserves more credit. Make sure to stop at the various overlooks along the way to learn more about the Ancestral Pueblo people and take in the views of the four corner region.

Far View Sites

The Far View Sites are the first archeological sites you will come up to and are a must-see! The Ancestral Pueblo people were living at Far View for at least 200 years before they began building the more famous cliff dwellings. The Far View sites are one of the most densely populated areas with 50 villages identified within a half square mile area, and were home to hundreds of people. Today, several excavated and stabilized sites are linked by a trail system within a short walking distance and some are wheelchair accessible.

Petroglyph Point Trail

Distance 2.4 miles roundtrip

Elevation gain 328 feet

On day two make sure to start your day early with this hike! One of our favorite things to see is petroglyphs so we were excited to learn about this hike. The trailhead is near the Spruce Tree House and allows you to see the beautiful Spruce Tree cliff dwelling. This adventurous trail provides beautiful views of Spruce & Navajo Canyons and takes you past a large petroglyph panel located 1.4 miles from the trailhead. It is narrow, rugged, and rocky, with several steep drop-offs along the canyon wall on the way to the petroglyph panel. After the panel, you’ll scramble up a large stone staircase using hands and feet to climb to the top, then enjoy an easy return through forest to complete the loop.

Pit House

After the adventurous petroglyph hike, take a drive to Mesa Top Loop and stop to view the pit houses. Ancestral pueblo farmers built their first permanent homes partially underground to ensure they were cool in the summer and warm in the winter. These pit houses date around AD 600 and are a sight to see!

Square Tower House

Standing 28 feet tall, this is the tallest building in the park! After a short stroll from the parking area, you will see the Square Tower House from an overlook. Some of the rooms still have their original wooden ceilings and floors.

Cliff Palace Loop

Cliff Palace

Take a 6 mile scenic drive around the Cliff Palace loop to view some of the most stunning cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park. The first dwelling you come up to is the very famous Cliff Palace. The Cliff Palace is one of the most well preserved and the largest dwelling in North America. Cliff Palace was built and occupied over a period of about 100 years and consists of more than 150 rooms and 21 kivas. You can snag a ticket to a ranger-led tour or view it from an overlook! Whatever you choose, seeing this cliff dwelling will leave you in awe of the innovative Ancestral Pueblo people that lived here.

Balcony House

After Cliff Palace, the next overlook you will come up to is Balcony House. This cliff dwelling was a mid-sized village of 38 rooms and two kivas and probably housed up to 30 people. Something that's very interesting is that this dwelling faces northeast, which means that it receives little warmth from the sun during the winter months. Even though it had little warmth in the winter, this dwelling was built close to two naturally-occurring seep springs and could be the reason the pueblo people chose this specific alcove.

It is filled with rich history of a special people, who no matter what struggles they faced, they figured out a way to persevere and thrive. Minimalist RV Gift Guide: 15 Gift Ideas for RVers

We absolutely love Christmas but as full-time RVers, gift giving can be a touchy subject. Even though we absolutely love that our family and friends want to cherish us with gifts, finding space for those gifts brings a lot of anxiety. Because space is so limited in our Airstream, the items we bring into our home have to be very intentional items and sometimes those items must serve multiple purposes. It's hard to find gifts for RVers and even harder if those RVers are also minimalist or are very limited on space. Due to these challenges, I figured I would put together a list of gift ideas that are minimal but are still very thoughtful for the RVers in your life.

1. America The Beautiful Annual Park Pass

Every RVer and camper in your life needs an Annual Park Pass. This mighty card is good for one year and allows access to more than 2,000 sites. It covers entrance fees at National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges, as well as standard amenity fees (day use) at National Forests, National Grasslands, and lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and the Army Corps of Engineers. $80 for this pass is a no brainer for anyone who likes to visit 2 or more National Parks a year.

We used to have some really large clunky camp chairs that were only used twice the 3 years we owned them. We saw these on an Instagram ad (yeah, one of those) and crossed our fingers when we purchased them! After using them consistently for almost a year now we can say that they are TRULY the best camp chairs around. They are so small, compact and lightweight that we use them almost everyday. They are so lightweight that I've even stuck one in my pack on fishing hikes! I can sit and read a book while Tanner fishes, or we can sit together and enjoy the sunset views.

4. National Parks Passport Book

One of the things I look forward to the most when visiting a new National Park is "cancelling" it out with a stamp on our Passport books. These National Park Passport books are a perfect gift for any minimalist RVer who enjoys visiting National Parks and wants to commemorate the time spent there without having to buy a physical souvenir!

5. Anker Portable Power Ban k

This portable power bank lives in my hiking pack. It is so small and lightweight that I can take it with me on hikes and never have to worry about my phone dying. I use my phone to take photos so it's important to keep my phone charged at all times. It'd make a great gift for the RVer who is also into tech!

6. SensorPush Wireless Thermometer/Hygrometer

This little square doesn't look like much but we feel like it is a necessity in RVs. It allows us to track the temperature and humidity of the Airstream. Because an increase in humidity can be damaging to RVs it's important to keep an eye on it. The program works with an app, so the RVer in your life will be able to check temperature or humidity all on their phone.

7. SanDisk Solid State Drive

I bought this AFTER I dropped my external hard drive and lost precious video and photo from our time in Wyoming and Montana. Though a bit pricey, this solid state drive will give the RVer in your life peace of mind knowing their special adventures are stored safely. (Please note, I would always back up any photos/videos onto multiple devices or the cloud. Learn from my mistake.)

8. SimpleHuman Soap Dispenser

Okay, so this isn't the coolest thing on this list but it truly is helpful! We have used this in our Airstream for almost 4 years now and love it. Because it is refillable, it allows our shower floor to remain clutter free from shampoo and conditioner bottles. Space is so limited in RV showers that this item really does allow for more space.

9. Turkish Towels

Another item that I believe has made a world of a difference as an RVer is our Turkish towels. We used to have normal cotton towels in the RV but they took up so much space and took a very long time to dry. I switched us over to Turkish towels and we will never look back! They are lightweight, very quick to dry and it doesn't hurt that they are also beautiful! We have even taken them with us on hikes and to the beach. They can also be used as a blanket, a beach rug or a swimsuit cover up.

10. AllStays Camp & RV App

The AllStays Camp & RV app is a must for every RVer and camper in your life. We use this app often to help us find places to park overnight, dump stations and to check for low bridge clearances. Gifting this app will make any RVer in your life a happy camper!

11. Midland Two Way Radios

Radios are an RVers best friend. Seriously. We use these to communicate when parking the RV, to check our Airstream taillights before leaving a spot and even if one of us has ran ahead to scope out a potential boondocking site. We keep them in the console of our truck charging , so they are always ready and available for when we need them. They make life so much easier than trying to yell to your partner over the noise of a loud truck engine.

12. A Beginner's Guide to Living in an RV: Everything I Wish I Knew Before Full-Time RVing Across America by Alyssa Padget t

Heath and Alyssa Padgett are one of my favorite full-time RV couples out there. They are knowledgeable, kind and driven. Alyssa wrote this beginners guide to RVing in 2018 and I purchased it as soon as it was released. We were already living in our Airstream but I still got some good nuggets of information out of this book and I enjoyed it so much! I highly recommend this to any RVer out there, beginner or seasoned. Alyssa also updated it this year as well.

13. Audible Membership

An Audible membership is wonderful gift that checks off the boxes for your RVer who is minimalist but also loves to read! All those miles of driving won't seem so long while listening to a new , good book!

14. REI Gift Card

RVer s can ALWAYS, ALWAYS use an REI Gift Card. Trust us, even though we are minimalist, there seems to always be something on our list that we need from REI. Whether its new wool socks, a Patagonia hiking shirt or a Black Diamond headlamp, an REI Gift Card can let your RVer choose the items they truly need.

15. Give on their be half

Did you read through the list but nothing really caught your eye? This last suggestion is a very special way of gifting something to your RV friend. Choose an organization that your RVe r is passionate about and give a donation in their name. It is a thoughtful way to say you care and also a way to give back during this holiday season.

DIY Airstream Desk using existing dinette hardware

DIY Airstream Desk

Anyone else agree that existing RV dinettes are just too bulky? Well, for us it was! We understand that they are great for most people, but for full timers it is a lot of wasted space! We wanted to utilize the space to our advantage and we knew putting in a desk would do just that!

We knew we wanted a desk to replace our existing dinette but we didn't want to drill any holes into our precious Airstream aluminum walls. We went back and forth on just putting in a small foldable IKEA table, but then worried about how to secure it when we traveled. We looked at hundreds of pictures online of other RV full timers desk and gathered some inspiration before deciding what would fit our space!

Tanner figured out that we could just use the existing dinette hardware to secure a tabletop so that we didn't have to worry about drilling new holes! So off we went to IKEA to find the perfect tabletop!

Before reading on, below is a before and after picture of the space! You can see how much more open the space looks after removing the dinette. We love all the floor space we gained by removing the dinette and adding a long thin desk. It makes the Airstream feel bigger and it is a much better use of space for us.

MATERIALS NEEDED

• IKEA Bamboo HILVER Tabletop

• 1 1/2 inch wooden dowel rod

• Table leg hardware Heavy Duty Top Plate

• IKEA IVAR Drawer

• Kilz or any white paint

• Varathane Sunbleached Stain

• Varathane Polyurethane Semi-Gloss

STEP 1

At IKEA we chose the bamboo HILVER tabletop . We liked that it was fairly inexpensive and lightweight! We wanted a thin, long desk so we ended up cutting the bamboo table top with a table saw to the width of 18 inches.

A little FYI: the reason that the bamboo tabletop is super lightweight is because it is NOT solid bamboo! It has a cardboard core. This didn't bother us because the cut side was going to be up against the Airstream wall and would not be seen. We also cut about 1 inch off the end that would be up against the wall so that it would fit flush because the tabletop is curved. We added a Velcro strip to the cut end to prevent scratches on the wall.

(The leg you see above was a HILVER leg we purchased from IKEA but it was not tall enough!)

STEP 2

I really liked the bamboo look but after putting it inside the Airstream it was just a little too yellow for my liking. I decided to paint it white with some Kilz we had on hand and after finishing it, it was too white! When it comes to small spaces, everything has to look just right or else it looks WAY out of place. I wasn't sure what to do and I figured I'd have to sand all the paint off and start over.

STEP 3

After looking for ideas on what to do with the stark white tabletop, I found a wood stain that would give a greyish white look. I stained the white painted tabletop with Varathane Sunbleached wood stain. The result was just what I was looking for! It gave the tabletop just enough color variation to blend well with the Airstream.

In the picture above you can also see the Velcro strip we added to the end of the tabletop that would be up against the wall of the tv. We also added a layer of clear coat to protect the top at this step as well.

STEP 4

Attaching the tabletop to the existing dinette hardware was simple. We just screwed the existing brackets to the bottom of the tabletop. You can see a more detailed look of what we mean down below. At this point we also attached the leg. We used a 1 1/2 wooden dowel we bought at Hobby Lobby. We measured it to the correct height, cut it and used this table leg hardware to attach it to the bottom of the tabletop.

STEP 5

Since we removed our dinette we did end up losing much needed storage so we had to find a way to replace some of it. We headed to IKEA again and found this IVAR drawer . It is lightweight, inexpensive and really easy to put together! We screwed it underneath the tabletop and love the desk storage it gives us.

In the picture above you can also see a wooden piece on the left attached to the wall. We attached that piece of wood to the wall with command strips and it serves to give that side of the table more stability.

We love this change we made to the Airstream! It was a simple project but it has given us more walking space and a better workspace. We also love that we didn't have to drill any holes or make any other permanent changes to our Airstream. So far we haven't had any issues with the desk when traveling and it has held up great! How to Decorate Your RV Frugally

Decorating the Airstream is one of my all time favorite things! We decided to go with a very neutral interior so that the Airstream could appear bigger! The neutrality of it allows for flexibility when decorating. I am also a minimalist when it comes to decorations because I believe that less stuff will allow the space to feel bigger. So choosing small, decorative items was important to me. The color scheme I have used in the Airstream is very neutral and pops of color are minimal as well. This of course is a personal preference, but I enjoy the flexibility it offers.

Tanner and I are very frugal when it comes to our finances and we are pretty dedicated to only buying what we need. I also do not believe in "fast fashion" and I try to buy second hand when possible. Most of our decor items are secondhand, DIYed or have been given to us as gifts. This is how I am able to decorate frugally!

1. SHOP YOUR HOME

This is by far my favorite way to decorate! You will be amazing at how changing where an item is placed or how it's used can completely transform an area! Using what you have should always be your first go to! It'll save you a lot of time and money. My favorite thing I have shopped from my own home is the hexagon lamp you see above! I have had it on my desk, on the side of the couch (as pictured) and now it is currently in the best spot ever, behind our couch!

2. BUY SECONDHAND

Okay.. I might have fibbed a little up above. Because I honestly LOVE thrifting! There's just something about the hunt and finding that perfect item! Thrifting is a great way to buy gently used items for your home without breaking the bank and as a bonus you are saving the earth a little. The baskets above were all thrifted and they add some character to our space. When purchasing items, I also try to buy items that can serve multiple functions. These baskets are currently being used as decor, but I can take them down and use them for organization if I ever need to!

3. DIY

When you can't find just what you're looking for, it's time to flex those creative muscles! I've always had a heart for crafting and I enjoy being able to DIY when possible. So if I want something specific and I have all or most of the items on hand (refer back to Tip #1), I just DIY it! The garland you see hanging above our couch was a simple DIY! I just strung some wooden beads I had onto a string and then added yarn tassels. The tassels are also a DIY! I found a super simple Pinterest tutorial and made my own! A huge and VERY important DIY we completed in the Airstream was our desk. You can see how we built that HERE .

4. BUY MULTI-PURPOSE ITEMS

I love to use items that can function multiple ways! For example, I have a small planter on a wooden stand that I use to hold my essential oils on my desk. It is obviously made for a plant but I love that it can serve as an organizational item. Another example are postcards! I use postcards as decor because they are lightweight (rv probs), they don't take up much room, and they can be mailed after your done using them! Buying items that can serve multiple purposes can give you more flexibility. So if later on down the road you want to change up your decor, you have more options!
